THE WOODLANDS, TX—(August 22, 2024)—On Saturday, August 17, 2024, fifty young artists from The Woodlands and greater Montgomery County gathered at The Jett Center to prepare for the first-ever Young Makers Market produced by The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) and planned for September 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Market Street The Woodlands (please note rain date: September 14, 2024).
Artists from 3rd to 12th grade were taught about marketing, sales strategies, leadership, and finance through workshops conducted by local professionals. The workshops were designed to empower these young creatives with the skills they needed to thrive as artists and entrepreneurs. Each session was interactive, encouraging students to engage with the material and each other. They learned how to price their work, create compelling displays, and use social media to reach potential buyers.
“I learned a lot of things in the workshops, not only marketing but finances and being an entrepreneur. The Young Makers Market is a good opportunity to meet people, sell art, and have fun in the community,” said June Reynolds, a 9th-grade participant.
"I am continually inspired by the enthusiasm and creativity of these young artists," said Noemi Gonzalez, Market Street Marketing Director. "The workshops have provided them with not only essential business skills but also the confidence to share their unique perspectives with the community. We are thrilled to provide a platform for these talented individuals to shine and to witness the impact of their hard work and dedication."
These talented students also enjoyed a keynote presentation by local artist Marlo Saucedo. Saucedo’s work tells a story, using handwritten words to create beautiful images. Her work has been featured at Google Houston, Methodist Hospital, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (soon to be installed). Follow Saucedo here:

As the producers of the nationally recognized The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival (April 11-13, 2025) and the upcoming Texas Fine Craft Show (November 1, 2, & 3, 2024 Tickets On Sale Now!) the Young Makers Market is a true reflection of TWAC’s mission to amplify arts awareness in the community through arts education, opportunities and collaboration.
