Young Makers Market

Save the date for September 6, 2025!

Young Makers Market is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students grades 3 through 12 (ages 9 - 18) to sell their unique artistic creations in a one-day mini-arts festival in Market Street, The Woodlands. Young Artists will participate in a day of workshops to prepare before the Market. The workshops will cover topics including marketing & leadership and feature working artists' talks.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Student, Parent/Guardian must be a resident of Montgomery County, or The Woodlands (Harris County 77316)
  • Young Artist must submit three (3) images of examples of work they intend to sell at the Young Makers Market
  • Young Artist must be available for the workshop dates, event date, and rain date to be considered.
  • Student must be aged 9 - 18 by September 2025.
  • Once accepted a $25* fee will be due, this fee covers a t-shirt, snacks, and other supplies throughout the event(s). *Scholarships available.
  • Young Artists applications will be juried. The jurors will be checking that all guidelines were followed, and looking for creativity, originality and strength of artistic voice.

Making Your Art

Accepted Young Artists are solely responsible for creating 15-25 pieces of artwork to sell at the Young Makers Market on September 6, 2025.

TWAC does not provide supplies, funds, or instruction on how to make this work.

We encourage Young Artists to consider the size and scale of their pieces, how they will display that work, and how they may need to wrap them for a purchasing customer.

The Workshop

Young Artists will participate in a day of workshops to prepare before the Market.

The workshops will cover topics including marketing & leadership and feature working artists' talks.

Additionally, Young Makers will have the opportunity to ask questions about the Market, learn about event setup & clean up, and pick up their event credentials.


Selling Your Work

All accepted Young Makers are responsible for selling and collecting payment for their work following State sales tax laws and national income tax laws. Young Makers will price their own work.

On the application, you will need to indicate how you plan to accept payment:
  • Cash Only
  • Venmo/Paypal/Zelle/Square (parent or guardian account)
  • The Woodlands Arts Council Payment Processor**

**The Woodlands Arts Council Payment Processor is a Payment Operating System hosted through Woodforest Bank. Young Artists who choose this option will collect payments with the device. Once the event has been completed, TWAC will run the report for total sales and subtract the credit card processing fees from the total. A check will then be mailed to the Young Artist.
