The Beauty of Nature in The Woodlands Mural Unveiling

The Beauty of Nature in The Woodlands Mural Unveiling

A collaborative work between The Woodlands Township, Howard Hughes, and The Woodlands Arts Council resulted in the installation of the mural "The Beauty of Nature in The Woodlands," in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of The Woodlands.

The Woodlands Arts Council conducted an open call for artists and managed the selection process. Among 40 applicants, local artist Marlo Saucedo, and muralist Amy Malkin were chosen.

The striking mural is 8-foot tall and 24-foot wide and is located at the base of the Millennium sculpture, next to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on The Woodlands Waterway. Its design incorporates iconic elements of The Woodlands, including the monarch butterfly, hibiscus, hummingbird, and koi fish. Commissioned by Howard Hughes, the mural was generously gifted to The Woodlands Township. The project also involved community members and art students, who participated in a painting day held in September.

Art Bench Project

To support our mission to promote art in the community, 30+ Art Benches have been commissioned and installed in The Woodlands through a partnership with The Woodlands Township. Walk from The Woodlands Mall to Town Green Park and visit Hughes Landing to enjoy the beauty and practicality of these one-of-a-kind Art Benches designed by local, national, and international artists. Six Bicycle Racks installed along The Woodlands Waterway were added to the collection in 2023.
To commemorate The Woodlands' 50th anniversary, the mural "The Beauty of Nature" was unveiled in October 2024. This project was possible with the collaboration of The Woodlands Township and The Howard Hughes Corporation.
