Books on the Green once again returns to The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival. In addition to bringing award-winning authors to the three-day event, the 2025 Books on the Green will be a more interactive experience for guests, featuring poetry buskers, storytelling competitions, a poetry slam and the longest game of “Pass the Story.”

Author Martha Wells

Martha Wells has been a science fiction/fantasy writer since her first fantasy novel was published in 1993, and her work includes The Books of the Raksura series, the Ile- Rien series, The Murderbot Diaries series, and other fantasy novels, most recently Witch King (Tordotcom, 2023). She has also written media tie-in fiction for Star Wars, Stargate: Atlantis, and Magic: the Gathering, as well as short fiction, YA novels, and non-fiction. She has won Nebula Awards, Hugo Awards, Locus Awards, an Alex Award, and a Dragon Award, and her work has appeared on the World Fantasy Award ballot, the Philip K. Dick Award ballot, the BSFA Award ballot, the USA Today Bestseller List, the Sunday Times Bestseller List, and the New York Times Bestseller List. She is a member of the Texas Literary Hall of Fame, and her books have been published in thirty languages.

She is also a consulting producer on the Murderbot series for Apple TV+.

Author Jean Becker

Jean Becker served as chief of staff for President George H.W. Bush for nearly twenty-five years. She’s the editor of Pearls of Wisdom by Barbara Bush and author of the New York Times bestseller The Man I Knew: The Amazing Story of George H.W. Bush’s Post Presidency. Her latest book, Character Matters: And Other Life Lessons from George H.W. Bush, was released in April 2024. Prior to her post as chief of staff, Jean served as deputy press secretary to First Lady Barbara Bush and was a newspaper reporter for 10 years, including a four-year stint at USA TODAY.

Becker is the author of two nonfiction books: “The Man I Knew: The Amazing Story of George H.W. Bush’s Post-Presidency” and “Character Matters: And Other Life Lessons from George H.W. Bush.”
