In 1974, George Mitchell embarked on his groundbreaking project, which we now recognize as The Woodlands!
George and his wife Cynthia were true art lovers. Part of their dream was to ensure that public art was a mainstay in the community. The Woodlands now boasts one of the largest public art collections in the United States. This year marks The Woodlands' grand 50th anniversary celebration! Amidst the impressive array of public art, there is a large community of talented visual artists living and working in The Woodlands and the surrounding area!
The Woodlands Arts Council, in partnership with Howard Hughes & The Woodlands Township, is proud to present an art exhibition to honor 50 years of art and creativity in The Woodlands. Curated by Annette Palmer, “A Golden Vision” encompasses a broad spectrum of expertise, showcasing 24 invited artists working in painting, drawing, photography, encaustic art, ceramics, fiber art, digital art and photo collage. The selected artwork represents a culmination of different age groups and personalities presented together as a community.
