Be A Fan
I'm doing a lot with Lichtenburg technique these days, where you send a 12,000 volt current through the wood, it burns through like lightning, leaving fractal burning patterns. Sometimes I inlay these with a mixture of crushed stone and epoxy: turquoise, malachite, lapis or red coral. These stones I also inlay into the natural cracks and voids in the wood, especially mesquite and pecan. Parquet is the other technique I use on my boxes, small solid pieces 1/4" thick laid in patterns. The large variety of natural colors found in wood provide the palette.
